Guiding Question: How Does Play Connect Students To Others?Guiding Activity: Playing with Primary Colors
Objective: The student will identify and use the primary colors to solve problems and express their ideas and feelings through works of art.
Standards: Art K.1 The student will create works of art that represent personal solutions to art problems. Art K.2 The student will express ideas and feelings through the creation of works of art. Art K.3 The student will identify and use colors--red, blue, and yellow. Materials: Ok Go-Primary Colors You Tube Video , Primary Colors Glog, clear water cups, food coloring, magazine pictures, glue or glue sticks, crayons, markers, pencils,craft sticks, Activity: For PreK, Two 30 minute class periods 1st class period 1. As they come into the Art Room, teacher will have slide show created playing on the Promethean Board. Students will learn about primary colors. Show Glog on Primary Colors. Play Ok Go-Primary Colors You Tube Video (Visual and Kinesthetic learning) 2. Students will add a drop of food coloring- their favorite primary color into their clear water cup. We will have this graph of cups set up on one of the tables in our room labeled with Favorite Primary Color: red, yellow, and blue (Sharing their favorite color, Math) 3. Students will work in favorite color group and sort magazine pictures by primary colors : red, yellow, and blue. Teacher will write name on craft stick with permanent marker. Student will glue one picture on a craft stick for a puppet. (Corporative learning, Art) Will keep for next class time. 2nd class period 1. Students will work together to glue pictures of their group color on their group board.(Corporative Learning, Art) 2. The students will use their puppets to present their group board to the class. (Storytelling, dramatic play) 3. Pass and use the scented hand sanitizer. Hold hands in a circle and sing song I created to the tune of "Make New Friends." (Girl Scout Song) Called "Primary Colors, Red, Yellow, Blue..We learned them and you can too." Combine the two songs. (Health, Music) Assessment: Teacher observation, participation in individual and group activities and products |
